The EGI Webinar Series steps into a new year with a renewed focus on impact, alignment, and community-driven innovation. In 2026, our webinars will place stronger emphasis on turning data into usable services, connecting research infrastructures with real user needs, and building shared understanding across disciplines and platforms. We are delighted to open the year with a strategic conversation on Data Exploitation Platforms and their role in shaping the future of research services.

Research Infrastructures generate vast amounts of valuable data — yet transforming that data into scientific insight, operational services, and real societal impact remains a persistent challenge. In this EGI webinar, we introduce the RI-SCALE Data Exploitation Platform (DEP) vision and explain why DEPs are a key building block for scalable, user-driven research services across Research Infrastructures.
Rather than focusing on technical implementation details, this session is designed to build a shared understanding across communities by addressing a fundamental question: Why do we need Data Exploitation Platforms — and what problems are they meant to solve?
What this webinar will cover?
By revisiting real user scenarios, the webinar aims to align expectations and perspectives among use-case owners, developers, and infrastructure providers.
Who should attend?
Speaker
Ville Tenhunen, the EGI Data Solutions Architect, and the techical coordinator of the RI-SCALE project. Ville will present the RI-SCALE DEP vision and outline how early engagement and feedback from the community are essential as the DEP design evolves.
An invitation to the community
This webinar is not only an introduction — it is an open invitation to engage early, share feedback, and help shape the future of Data Exploitation Platforms within RI-SCALE.
